Project Brief: The complete refurbishment of a Wimbledon house and garden.
The property had not been lived in for a couple of years so the whole interior needed to be stripped back to the brickwork and the services removed. Poorly constructed out buildings and a lean to extension were demolished and the roof removed. Two extensions were then formed in rendered blockwork with glass panels, doors and glass roofs and the floor heights were altered to allow the kitchen and dining room to be on the same level.
The loft was converted and insulated with stairs fitted in a position to maximise the space and allow the best head height while ascending into the room. A master suite was then built with dressing area, ensuite bathroom and a large roomy master bedroom with bespoke cupboards and wooden flooring. The plumbing and electrics were completely renewed, all windows and doors replaced and water underfloor heating was fitted throughout the ground floor.
The project was shortlisted in the Architects Journal ‘Retrofit awards’ 2013.
